imagawayaki

Japanese sweet bread or “pancake” bread, also known as imas. The one at the top was filled with white beans and the bottom one with sweet azuki bean paste. Both fresh off the pan, warm and delicious in a cold, cold day in the streets of Narita. 100¥ a piece.

I’m a beer lover. Sadly, Southeast Asia lacks decent beer, meaning most of the beer here is terrible (with one notable exception). Whenever I’m in the mood for a good brew, I have to go with the imported stuff. Prior to living here, I’d only tried Hoegaarden once or twice and was generally indifferent toward it. Now it has become my go-to brew, partly because it’s surprisingly easy to find but mostly because it’s delicious.

what you see is what you get

This is right on the corner of Th. Chakrabongse and soi Rambuttri, which is just one street over from the super famous Khao San Road. Now that it has gotten swallowed up into the Khao San Area, it seems like the comparatively sleepy Rambuttri might be what KSR once was, when it exploded into the backpacker orbit circa “The Beach.”

What you see is what you get, so no surprises hiding in the kitchen ;) And delicious (looking) food has nothing to do with having a strong stomach.
